Powering Local Clubs: Solstice Energy Backs Grassroots Footy

On any winter weekend, you’ll find the heart of North East Tasmania beating loudest at the local footy ground. There’s the smell of hot chips, the cheers from the boundary, and the familiar faces behind the canteen counter. For the clubs that make all this happen, keeping the lights on, literally and figuratively, takes more than passion. It takes support.

That’s where a new partnership between the Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) and Launceston-based Solstice Energy is making a difference. The idea is simple: every time a player, member, or supporter switches their electricity to Solstice Energy using their club’s unique code they get a 5% discount off Solstice’s already great rates for 12 months and the club pockets $100. No raffles, no meat trays, no Bunnings BBQs, just a simple way to bring in funds.

Adam Dance, Solstice Energy’s GM Retail, says it’s about more than just power bills.

“We understand how important local clubs are, not just for sport, but for community connection and identity. This partnership creates a funding stream for clubs and gives locals the chance to support their team financially without spending a cent extra or volunteering spare hours.”

For NTFA General Manager Damian Jones, the impact is already being felt.

“Solstice Energy’s community-first approach has been a game-changer for grassroots organisations like ours. By offering local clubs the opportunity to earn sponsorship money simply by their members switching their energy provider, Solstice is helping us build stronger, more sustainable communities.

“For the NTFA, this initiative means more than just financial support - it’s a partnership that empowers our clubs to thrive by gaining support for their operations, growing junior talent and purchasing much-needed equipment,” said Mr Jones.

It’s a win-win: clubs get vital funding and locals get a discount on their electricity from an energy business that’s putting people and purpose first.
